Why Vaccinations Are Really Important - Cheetahs In My Shoes

Today I went back to the GP for my 2 week check-up after the particularly evil bout of whatever it was that floored me over Christmas. I’d had a phone call from the practice yesterday afternoon to say that the lab had grown some fairly major nasties from my “cough in a pot” (sputum sample – URGH, I hate that phrase) and that my antibiotics probably needed reviewing so it was good timing. The appointment enlightened me on the finer details of these nasties and also gave me timely reminder of why vaccinations are really important.

It seems that having managed to shift that staphylococcus aureus infection that had been lurking from August to December, my body had been attacked by the next level up of bugs. And not just one of the little blighters but two different ones – one of which was resistant to my current antibiotics. Joy (that’s ironic by the way).
