Which Team Collaboration Tool For Small Businesses?

I ask myself this because there are new apps for business coming out all the time. And one space that seems to be filling up is team collaboration. With so many applications, can they all survive? And if you choose one of them – will it be one of those that survive?

Once upon a time there seemed to be only Campfire from 37 Signals.

Campfire describes itself as team collaboration with real time chat, or instant messaging for groups. It allows people in a group to share text, files, and code in real time and to save the transcripts.

It has a free plan for up to four users. After that there’s a monthly fee per user.

Now there are new applications that offer competition for Campfire.


Trello describes itself as an application that enables you to “drop lengthy email threads, out-of-date spreadsheets, no-longer-so-sticky notes, and clunky software for managing your projects.”

I used it for a while, but I didn’t get on with the layout, which is in what are called ‘boards’ that span across the page...
