Down the highstreet I go, some days it is just the four times, on days with a lunchtime pre-school pick up it is six. Back and forth along the high street, nodding to the familiar faces the first and second time, starting to avoid them with the embarrassment of saying hello too many times on the subsequent journeys. The seasons change brings new things with it. Sometimes, like today, Summer and Autumn are battling for attention – the hot sun makes me sweat while I kick my way through the already fallen leaves. We need to hunt for conkers for a pre-school project, nudging leaves aside to look for the prickly cases or shiny brown orbs.
