The Tyrannosaurus rex is probably the first dinosaur people think of right? It has been celebrated as an icon for prehistoric wildlife for decades and with films such as Jurassic park, its popularity has only grown. The skeletal fossil of ‘Sue’ the T.rex sold for a record $8.3 million in 1997 cementing its place as the most famous of all dinosaurs. The classical depiction of T.rex is as an entirely scaly reptile-like animal with apparently useless stubby arms and a ruthless carnivorous lifestyle. The truth however may be a little different; palaeontologists have extensively studied fossils and perhaps the truth is that we shouldn’t believe everything we see on the big screen.
