My friends and I are only four days back from Dublin and it already seems like a lifetime ago. Having a long weekend away without the girls has been great, but I really had no idea how much I would miss them. In fact, when I got home late on Monday night I did something I have never done before. I sneaked into their rooms to give them a little kiss and cuddle before I settled into bed.

I think having time apart helps any relationship and none more so than a single mother to her children. Sometimes being a single mum can become all consuming, especially when you have to eat, sleep and even run toilet stops around your little ones. However, when you’re given the opportunity to escape for a while, they are still there in your mind’s eye, as a constant reminder of your real world.
