“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Established in 2009, the UN’s World Day of Social Justice seeks to advance the notion of social justice as an underlying principal for the peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among nations. The day aims to promote the need to remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability, and support the efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.
