The easy way to find people
Getting in contact with someone is easier than ever. I was reminded of this yesterday when my son shouted across the playground 'See ya later Ryan on Roblox!' Yup, online games are even a play where people can hang out these days. How times have changed.
As a child of the 80's I recall the two ways to contact someone; go round to their house and knock on the door or telephone them. Ah how the memories of my mis-spent youth come flooding back to me, sneaking the local red phone box, 10p in hand to call a boy. It wasn't just the actual contacting someone that was a lot slower, finding someone's number or address was quite the process. Every household had two large phonebooks, weighty affairs that were delivered annually, a telephone directory of residential contacts and The Yellow Pages for business contacts. So large that it was even a 'thing' back in the day for shows of strength to rip a phone book in half (see here!)
Fast forward a couple of decades and the rise of the internet has made everything more convenient and faster. A simple electoral roll search and you could find who are looking for within seconds. An electoral roll search looks through the Electoral Register, which includes the names and addresses of most UK citizens over the age of eighteen.
