Feeling tired but sated from a night spent in his arms, she sat, drawing the bedclothes around her, as if for protection from her sudden loneliness. The early morning sun shone brightly through the window, rays of light dancing beneath the curtains still drawn from the night before. Though she sniffed the air with further pleasure as the warm aroma of coffee and bacon drifted up the stairs from the kitchen below, she simultaneously rubbed her temples and shook her head, as if trying to rid herself of pain and tension.
