Silent Sunday - August 10th 2014

70 years ago today, the village where we now live, Lenault in Normandy, France was liberated from the Germans by the 7th Battalion, The Somerset Light Infantry (part of the 43rd Wessex Division). This plaque commemorates the event. Whilst I imagine the joy and relief of the inhabitants must have been immense, I do not like to think of the bombardments and battles that must have taken place to achieve this freedom.

Thank you to the brave men who fought for and liberated Lenault.
