It really is the most amazing weekend for child wielding festy fans. I was brought up as a festival kid, seventeen years running I went to Sidmouth Folk Festival for our family holiday, and only 3 of those years was I cursing my parents while all my mates at school went to Florida. Looking back now I can see how all those weekends and weeks away surrounded by music and colour shaped me as an adult, and I hope I can offer similar to my kids. And boy festivals have moved on in that time, certainly on the family friendly front. I do remember going to some kids workshops as a child, where a woman in a purple tie-dyed smock would sing out of tune, accompanied on guitar by her bearded and sandaled friend, and the songs were usually about someone dying. It was OK, if a little peculiar. These days festivals offer huge variety of stuff for kids to do, and Camp Bestival is the mother of all child friendly festivals!
