On the journey to to Leeds in Yorkshire from here in Edinburgh last weekend, I stopped at Burnmouth. It’s a tiny hamlet by the sea, and it is reached down a very steep and narrow road.
I wonder what the hamlet and the road down to it were like in the days of horses and carriages?
I can imagine the horses hooves skittering on the pebbles, and the driver hauling back in his seat as he descended the slope.
I’ve been to Burnmouth once before. The last time I was there...
