Overcoming my fear of messy play

I have read many wonderful, diverse blog posts that focus on messy play. They talk about the educational benefits to children but I struggle to see past that. I see mess. It makes my breathing quicken. This is not orderly crafting. It is chaos.

It is no secret that I am a big lover of arts and crafts. I love to dabble with embossing powder or sprinkle some glitter. I adore cutting and sticking and embossing. However, I struggle to translate this passion into messy play activities for the children. I don’t like mess. End of. I love my craft to be tidy and organised. I lay everything out that I will need before I start a project and work systematically and methodically. That’s not possible when children are involved.
