One Aldwych, London

One Aldwych, London One Aldwych became one of those hotels I had dropped into a number of times but never stayed at, and I always wondered what was beyond The Lobby Bar and the checkered lifts. In January I was invited to spend the night at the 5 star property in Covent Garden and I finally discovered what they’ve got going on.

Phil and I arrived on a cold January evening to a very warm welcome from the receptionist and luxury, creamy in-room chocolate treats. We spent the evening sipping on Champagne, munching popcorn and settling in to watch A Most Wanted Man in the hotel’s private screening room as part of the Film and Fizz night. Following the film we were whisked upstairs to Axis for a three course meal.

Our room was on the fifth floor and looked out to the Strand. It was snug, warm and thoroughly modern with a bathroom to die for. The room wasn’t huge but then that’s to be expected in central London and it was actually quite nice to have a cosy piece of the capital to ourselves for the weekend.
