Hotel interiors can sometimes be fairly generic and look like cardboard cut outs of one another. They can lack creativity and thought and are therefore completely uninspiring and drab. Other times hotels are decorated in a unique and possibly quirky way but they have no direction and end up getting it all wrong.
But other times they get it so, so right.
Last month in Barcelona I visited Ofelias Hotel courtesy of ByHours and felt completely at home and at peace as soon as I stepped in the door. Designed by Lázaro Rosa Violán it’s effortlessly beautiful without being over the top; think the brilliance of Firmdale but with a chilled California beach vibe and less going on design wise. I was only there for a couple of hours between checking out of one hotel and catching a flight so can’t comment on the overnight stay but I can comment on the décor, rooms and the pool, so here it is.
