Laura and I had a hectic couple of days seeing the beautiful sights of Sintra and were in desperate need of some R&R. When we arrived at Memmo Alfama and checked in our room wasn’t ready which was a-ok with us as we got to spend time in the Wine Bar and Terrace drinking wine, eating olives and reflecting on the past few days with 30 degree rays shining down upon us.
The red roofs of the nearby houses were an absolute picture and the River Tagus was calm and scattered with cruise ships. Every sound and sight was a peaceful one and being on the terrace was a real treat for the soul and the senses.
I absolutely adored the red pool. It’s not something you see every day and it really stood out against the blue skies and the white, black and cream furniture. The red roofs of the nearby houses and the sporadic red chairs on the terrace ensured the pool didn’t look completely garish and out of place but rather really inviting and I regret not taking a dip during my short stay.
