A new report has found that land owned by foreign investors is causing 550 million people to go hungry in Africa and South East Asia. In the face of a predicted food security crisis, it should be a priority to make sure that the productivity of every piece of land available is maximised, the developing world has a crucial role to play in this aim, since it is estimated that Africa and South East Asia’s agricultural yield could be nearly doubled with modern methods and technology such as new seed varieties and reduced waste from mechanisation
