How sponsoring a child encourages education

Education is the basic building block to lifting children out of poverty – and keeping them there. For every child who achieves an education, a family and community become that much stronger. In many countries around the world, obtaining a decent education is a formidable task. Outdated curriculum, crumbling schools, and a generally unfair system lock too many children out entirely.

In South Africa, some estimate that as many as 60 percent of children are abused. Others live in violent neighborhoods, or are chronically hungry. Post-traumatic stress disorder is not uncommon, and dropout rates are high.
