But, I had to do a little research because my Hazelnut bushes have the funniest little things on them – at least two of them do, the other just buds.
So, in my diligent research last night, I found that male Hazelnut flowers in the winter and the female does not until the spring. The female is distinctive because it has orangish-red shoots coming from buds, while the male doesn’t. In order for the female plant to bear fruit you have to have a male nearby to cross-pollinate.
I don’t have an answer because I was falling asleep trying to read about it and I gave up. Instead I am taking the easy way out and asking you guys . . .
So, it makes me wonder – which ones do I have??
