Five Nights in Paris

Ah, the possibility of our first holiday since the girls left home, we'd not had a break without them for 19 years and the thought was a fabulous one. We decided on a sight-seeing, five-night break in Paris. We last visited the city in 2010, stayed on the outskirts, travelled into Paris each day and promised ourselves that next time around we'd do everything differently.

We settle on budget flights with Flybe and our experience is a good one. Check-in takes less than 5 minutes and, as we're only taking cabin luggage we're settled in the bar in no time at all. The flight takes just over an hour and we land in Paris (CDG) filled with hope that the next 5 days will be wonderful. We take the Roissy bus from Charles de Gaulle to Opéra and decide to walk to the hotel as it's only a short distance.

The Lyric Hotel is a delightful boutique hotel. Opened recently on the quiet Rue de Gramont, a stone's throw from the Opéra Garnier. Each of the 47 bedrooms is themed around classical music and dance and, although small, they are well appointed.
