Searching for butterflies, making daisy chains, crunching autumn leaves, splashing in the shoreline – they are the simple pleasures of my childhood. They are memories of a growing up done mainly outdoors. Home was London, but my playground was the greenbelt, the beach during our summer holidays, the field behind our house. It was a childhood spent in love with the world outside.
I lost a little of that connection to nature as I grew up. I couldn’t see a way to fit the outdoors in with my love of socialising and wine and fashion. Spare hours were spent reading and studying or shopping, weekends were not spent in the fresh air enough.
