Christmas Market Impressions

As we say here in Germany: “Es ist wieder so weit”. The Advent time has just begun and with it started the Christmas market season. The famous ones in the big cities, lasting for weeks. And small, intimate versions in villages, running for one weekend only.

I love them all. The festive atmosphere, with people smiling and chatting while holding steaming cups. The smells, from mulled wine to gingerbread, and from Kartoffelpuffer (potato fritter) to sausages. The pretty decorations on display, including the fake fires to add to the crib that always take me back to my childhood. And a vast choice when it comes to Christmas present ideas...
