Children’s Bedroom Inspiration

With our impending house extension my mind has turned to all things home décor. I’ve started Pinterest boards to help me keep track of inspiration for the rooms I need to re-decorate from scratch; the kitchen, bathroom, dining room and Oscar’s bedroom. The only room that I’m being given free-reign over is Oscar’s bedroom, the other rooms all involve collaborative planning with my husband, well I say ‘collaborative planning’ – it’s more like a battle of wills. Currently there’s hot debate over whether the open plan kitchen / dining room / snug area should be painted white with bold and bright furnishings or boring magnolia (you can see which is my choice can’t you?!)I must say, I am really loving planning Oscar’s new bedroom. Having just turned 5 years old he’s moved on from the pre-school stage and his Elmer mural that I lovingly painted two years ago now feel too baby-ish. Here’s a moodboard of the things I’m loving inspiration wise for his bedroom at present:

Children’s Bedroom Inspiration 1 , 2: Children’s beds from Carpetright I love the look of these both! Number 1 is a Hi/Lo kid’s bunk bed, the perfect space saving solution and ideal for when older siblings and friends come to sleep over. I love the way this also splits into two beds, really functional. Number 2 is the Ispace Midsleeper Children's Bed which has some neat storage idea – I particularly love the shelves under the steps, you can tell a lot of thought has gone into this beds design. Shown here in blue, the Ispace is also available in pink or white painted timber.

3, 4, 5: Wallpaper from Bimbily Bright and quirky designs really make this wallpaper stand out, match one of these with one of those beds and I think a room would look fabulous.

6, 7: Teddies from Etsy Because Oscar may be 5 years old and fiercely independent but he still loves cuddling up at bed time!

8, 9: Lamp and bedding from The White Company We live close to the seaside and spend much time at the beach. The lighthouse lamp appeals to me particularly – and the matching bedding would also look great with either of the kids beds from Carpetright above.

What do you think of my choices so far – which items do you love the best?
