Carnival is coming!
Traditionally the festivities begin two weeks before ‘Green / Clean Monday’ the start of the Greek Orthodox period of lent (which varies each year). The first week is known as ‘Meat Week’ or ‘Kreatini’ and for Orthodox followers this is the last week of eating meat until Easter.The second week is called ‘Tyrini’ and is ‘Cheese Week’ during which cheese and dairy products may be consumed.
