Belas Knap is looked after by English Heritage but it isn’t a typical day trip out type property. It is open for all to visit anytime, there is no visitors centre or staff on hand, you don’t pay either. You can’t drive directly to it, you park in a little lay by nearby and have a good 20 minute walk up a fairly step hill to get to it. The walk takes you through open field and a wooded path, wellies required when wet! You need to use your orienteering skills as past the road it isn’t sign posted. We had read that the Cotswold Way (whoop whoop!) ran through it and kept an eye out for the National Trail posts to follow. You could not in anyway take a pushchair on this walk, its got steep slopes, styles, little gates and walls to maneuver! So its a trip for bigger ones with stamina (Daniel just about managed it) and a baby carrier for little ones.
