I recently came across an idea for Christmas gifts which I thought was so lovely that I had to buy one. In fact, I’m buying two: I was at an event in London this week where we discussed finances, and more particularly, how to talk to children about money, especially around the festive season.
We are lucky; we’re not rolling in money, but we have enough to afford a nice life, and our children rarely have to wait long for something they really need or want, if we think it is to their benefit. But there are so many children who are not that lucky. For several years I’ve wanted to ask my children to consider those less fortunate than themselves, but not really known the best way to approach it.
