Africa: Climate change adaptation could improve the lives of millions

A recent UN report suggests that environmental efforts do not have to be separated from development work – it can help promote the livelihoods of 65 percent of Africa’s population, a place where millions of people depend on agriculture as their living. People have long believed climate change strategies to weaken development work in Africa as a result of being too expensive. However, UN’s report suggests that they should in fact be integrated in development plans. In other words: Climate change adaptation is an important player in the fight against poverty.
