We entered Utah on day six of our road trip, driving into the state, just south of the small town of Kanab on the 89A. We had wanted to take a slightly different route via Page and Lake Powell, but all of the hotels were full. Mr HC and I had been to Lake Powell before, but it was a shame that little HC missed out., as it’s a very scenic place of carved red rocks surrounding a huge man-made lake.
We didn’t stop at Kanab, as we wanted to carry on and get to our final destination, Zion as early as we could. There is very little accommodation within Zion national park itself, but the town of Springdale is located at the park’s South entrance and has a handful of hotels.
We had pre-booked a suite in the Cable Mountain Lodge, after extensively checking out all of the alternatives. We were very happy with the room and with the hotel in general – the view from the hotel was amazing.
