Conquering My Fear Of Heights: 356m Above Ground on the CN Tower Edge Walk

Months before heading to Toronto, I read about the CN Tower Edge Walk: the world’s highest hands-free full-circle outdoor walk, and a Guinness World Record. I’d told friends and family that I was planning to do it, and a huge sense of pride meant I didn’t want to back out. I watched countless YouTube videos of the walk in an effort to gear myself up to it, and booked it impulsively on one of my first days in the city so that I knew I’d either have to do it, or lose a good portion of that month’s pay cheque (the edge walk is not cheap!).

Yet for all of that, I woke up at 6am on the morning of my walk, having spent the night tossing and turning with nightmares of ropes snapping and harnesses coming loose, feeling sick to my stomach and unable to concentrate on anything but the impending walk.

If you’ve never had a fear of heights then that may all sound a little dramatic. To understand just how nervous I was about this (and I’m sure many of you can relate), you should probably know how deep my fear of heights goes…
