Dog Days of Summer

If the term ‘dog days of summer’ is supposed to have originated from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, in proximity to the sun was responsible for the hot, end of summer weather, then Sirius has upped and left to somewhere not even remotely close to the UK. For us to get those dog days we would need to have had a summer so we won’t be seeing those hot, hazy days around here anytime soon.
