19-03-12 Love Health Weekly Showcase
Monday again. I say ‘again’ – the weeks go on and oddly enough after Sunday comes Monday. That’s normal. This week the lovely Renata at Just Bring the Chocolate started a new meme #DefineNormal. Aimed at families with children with special/additional needs it’s provided a chance to link up with a description of what is normal in their houses. There have been an assortment of the most stonkingly good posts linked up and I would urge you to pop across and have a read. As Lesley from Living with Mom’s Cancer so kindly commented on my blog,
“Funny how we adapt to ‘normal’ situations that others couldn’t even begin to understand.
A year ago, normal for us was something very different from what it is now.”
How we adapt to what our health throws us at means that ‘normal’ is very different for all of us. It’s not just the health of our children that defines us, it’s our health, the health of our family members, those near and dear to us and those around us. So what’s normal for you and how does that change the way you are? I’ll leave you to think on that one – perhaps you’d like to write about it or leave us a comment.

Me He & Them- Fancy Another Pet
Right after getting rid of the threadworms (see previous post), no time to enjoy the peaceful moment. Today we have received a nice letter from school. We know this letter. We have had the same last year. It starts with : Dear Parents, 1/ Your child has head lice, 2/ there is a case of head lice in the class (circle what applies). Tonight I checked Blondie’s hairs, nothing, big sigh of relief. But what if she had had lice…
Last year we were not that lucky.

I’m Counting UFOs- Extended Breastfeeding and Misinformation
Today, my son had his one year check.
He didn’t have the usual 8 month check and I never took him to baby clinic to be weighed. He was feeding a lot (read: all the live long day), having plenty of dirty and wet nappies, growing out of his clothes, and so I didn’t see the point as I didn’t have any concerns. If all they were going to do was make me strip him naked, and pop him on some cold scales, well, I’d rather not put him through the indignity, thanks.

Living with Mom’s cancer- Why is cancer always in the news?

A cancer story on the news always makes me stop and listen. I think it’s because I’m hoping for that cure-all breakthrough. The one thing that will stop all cancers in their tracks. I know that’s highly unlikely but that’s the nature of the disease. And the cancer charities know it.

Color Test
These are the things we’re supposed to do to remove the cholesterol around our brain and try to slow up Alzheimer’s Disease..
It took me 2 times before I could finally tell this brain of mine to get thinking right.
